Urban Soul Orchestra (USO) is a contemporary and versatile string ensemble with a unique twist, incorporating percussion, bass, DJ and vocals. By enriching the classic string ensemble, soulful arrangements of lush strings and funky rhythms combine to create a fresh modern sound. Their diverse and stylish musicians are comprised of celebrated professional players of international acclaim.
Urban Soul Orchestra (USO) provide varying styles of entertainment throughout an event, from chilled background music during drinks or dinner to a roof-raising big band to stir up the dance floor. USO’s ensembles include our 4 piece Chill Out Set, 6 piece Acoustic Ensemble, 7 piece USO "Little" Big Band, Big Band and DJ Set. Several or all can be combined to provide bespoke entertainment tailored to specific events.
USO has worked for 16 years at the top of the UK music industry, collaborating with an impressive range of industry professionals including Mick Jagger, Grace Jones, Groove Armada, Leona Lewis, Take That, Keane and The Script.
2011 events include the launch of the Rangerover Evoque at the London Boat Show, the opening of One Hyde Park, the Monaco Grand Prix and the Wimbledon Ball. Previous events include the Cannes Film Festival (Penelope Cruz hosted Party at the House at Cannes for Akvinta Vodka), the Basel Art Fair and private parties for individuals such as Lord Norman Foster in Switzerland.

a) Chill Out Set
The USO chill out music set is a unique blend of live strings with a professionally produced soundtrack, creating a lusciously rich soundscape of chillout music for a myriad of events. The USO chill-out set creates a relaxed vibe for informal drinks receptions, or as unobtrusive background music for business networking events. Equally, our chill-out set can gently build in tempo throughout the set if required, gradually encouraging conference delegates or wedding guests from their seats and onto the dance floor.
b) Acoustic Ensemble
The Urban Soul Orchestra Acoustic Ensemble adds a groovy twist to the traditional string quartet by adding percussion and bass to create a beautiful, organic sound, perfect as instrumental background music for a corporate drinks reception or as informal wedding reception music.
These two options are generally booked as after dinner, dance music. The DJ set can be booked with/without vocalist and is also great for drinks receptions.
c) DJ Set
The USO DJ set is a unique fusion of live percussion, strings, male or female vocalist, sax, and DJ. Our USO DJ set entertains your guests with an upbeat performance of soulful house and Latin grooves, suitable as either contemporary and 'cool' background music, or as dance music. The USO DJ set is 'something different' for exclusive private functions, product launch events, corporate events, film wrap parties, media events and celebrity parties.
d) Big Band and Little Big Band
For a classy alternative to the everyday soul band or cover band, the Urban Soul Orchestra Big Band set combines the talented USO string players with a superb horn section, live band and three quality vocalists. The result is high energy, classy covers band music, perfect as a glamorous wedding dance band, sassy corporate event covers band or sophisticated private party dance music.
The USO Little Big Bandfeatures 3 vocalists with string quartet and backing tracks, for a varied and exciting cover band set. The Little Big Band was created to provide the same quality of sound experience for more intimate venues or bespoke events with select guest lists.
