Everest expedition leader Paul Deegan has entertained audiences at Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace and the Royal Geographical Society. He has spoken to Cirque du Soleil troupes on both sides of the Atlantic and addressed conferences on three continents with his inspirational and motivatiuonal story of succeeding against all odds.

After co-leading a 47-strong environmental expedition to Everest when he was 18, Paul made two unsuccessful attempts to climb the world’s highest mountain. One of these expeditions took place during the tragic ’Into Thin Air’ season in which 11 people died. Paul vowed never to go back to Everest. But after a hiatus of eight years, during which he struggled to keep his promise, Paul returned to the Himalaya in a final attempt to reach the top of the world.

After co-leading a 47-strong environmental expedition to Everest when he was 18, Paul turned his back on a promising career in refuse collection and made two unsuccessful attempts to climb the world’s highest mountain.

Paul’s multifarious adventures have included a trek along a frozen river in a gorge deeper than the Grand Canyon, a journey to the rarely-visited Nicobar Islands, and a spell at a scientific research station on the frozen Arctic Ocean. On the eve of the 21st century he led an expedition to an unexplored range of mountains. More people have stood on the moon than on the peaks that Paul’s team scaled.

Newspapers and magazines, including The Sunday Times and The Telegraph, have published hundreds of Paul’s expedition, travel and environmental stories. His first book received an award at the U.S. National Outdoor Book Awards. A finalist in the BBC’s search for new television experts, Paul is frequently interviewed on television and radio.

“Thank you for your support at the US and UK launch events. The key messages of your speeches about perseverance, self-projection and ambition - and the subtle way in which you shared these - were highly motivational and inspirational, and extremely well received.”

      GLAXOSMITHKLINE

“Paul spoke at three international conferences in London and Hong Kong. Paul is an excellent speaker; he had the audience of senior-level business executives captivated as he shared his Everest experiences (and life lessons learned) with them. Paul's talks are inspirational, and he is extremely professional, polite, punctual and proactive.”
