Orkestra del Sol

Orkestra del Sol’s flamboyant and imaginative live performances have gained them comparisons to the virtuosic wedding bands of Eastern Europe, the suave street bands of the US or the rebellious brass bands of Latin-American carnival. Trumpet, trombone, saxes, clarinet, sousaphone, accordion and two drummers weave an exciting tapestry of sound: soaring horn lines, mournful melodies, rolling middle-eastern rhythms, Guca-worthy trumpet solos and a dash of New Orleans sass.
They have charmed audiences across the UK, Europe, India and China in theatres, clubs and music halls and at music festivals (including Glastonbury 2010!) and street theatre events alike. This year Orkestra del Sol continue their explosive reinvention of the brass band format with a new show entitled Top Trumps. A frenzy of high-speed riffs, ridiculous musical challenges and one-upmanship and brass bravado.
Bursting with anarchic humour, wildly skilful musical arrangements and a roguish sense of theatre, catch one of Orkestra del Sol live shows near you this summer…
