      Mike Harris was the founding CEO of telephone bank Firstdirect and Internet bank Egg. He created two £1bn businesses and was credited with transforming the financial services landscape worldwide. In-between these commitments, he was Chief Executive of Mercury Communications, then the main competitor to BT, where he created an iconic brand and built a multi-billion consumer business. He was also chairman of mobile phone Company Mercury One to One during its early years. One to One was bought by T-mobile for $10bn in 1999.

In-between these commitments, he was Chief Executive of Mercury Communications, then the main competitor to BT, where he created an iconic brand and built a multi-billion consumer business. He was also chairman of mobile phone Company Mercury One to One during its early years. One to One was bought by T-mobile for $10bn in 1999.

      Harris was Chair of Innovation at Royal Bank of Scotland  from 2005 until March 2009,  where he  supervised the establishment of  a group wide innovation programme.

      Between 1995 and 2008 he was a regular speaker at the mid career MBA course at the Sloan School of management at MIT where he also supervised a number of student research projects.

      He is currently chairman and co-founder of digital identity experts Garlik, a company which was created in 2005 in order to give individuals and their families more power over the way their information is used in the digital world. It has the inventor of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee, on its advisory board.

      Mike is also chairman of innovation at the Royal Bank of Scotland and has been a regular speaker at mid-career MBA courses at the Sloan business School MIT since 1996. He often speaks at public seminars and runs private workshops on leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.

      Presentations include a wealth of practical tips, real-life examples and hands-on techniques which can be applied directly to personal and professional development. Mike always seeks to be both provocative and inspirational.

      His book, Find your lightbulb how to make millions from apparently impossible ideas, was published by John Wiley and Sons on April 11th 2008.

      Mike discusses topics such as Technology, Customer Service and Leadership and Strategy for Challenging Times in his presentations and feedback from clients is consistently positive. James Tanner of HSBC said of a recent talk, "Fantastic! Mike provides a great opportunity for leaders to get excited and inspired to challenge and improve their leadership qualities."
