Michael Johnson began as a corporate motivational speaker in 1997 shortly after making history at the 1996 Olympics where he became the first man to ever win gold at 200 meters and 400 meters at the same Olympics. So impressive was his performance under unimaginable pressure that he was soon being sought by organizations from around the globe to share his formula for success.

In the summer of 1990, Michael won thirteen consecutive 200-metre races. Obtaining the six fastest 200m times recorded for the year, he secured the Number One world ranking. Michael blew the crowds away in the 200m at the 1991 World Track and Field Championships in Tokyo, Japan, clocking the world's fastest 200m for the second consecutive year.

Having established himself in the United States, Michael went on to dominate the international track scene. His first major international breakthrough came in Edinburgh in 1990, where he raced a field that included Calvin Smith, Floyd Heard and defending Olympic Champion Joe DeLoach. On a chilly 55 degree night, Michael destroyed what he called the "greatest field I had ever run against," posting a personal best of 19.85.

Michael had the greatest consecutive seasons of any sprinter in history in 1990 and 1991. No one had ever been ranked Number one in the world in both 200 and 400 meters until Michael. Equally impressive, he is the only sprinter in history to run sub 20.00 for 200m and sub 44.00 for 400m during a career and in the same meet. All of which has earned him the popular title of "World's Fastest Human".

Michael was a member of the 4x400m relay team that set a new Olympic record and brought home the Gold from Barcelona. He continued Olympic success by breaking two world records at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Michael again dazzled the world when he became the first sprinter in history to win consecutive Olympic Gold Medals in the 400m. To top off his career total eighteen gold medals, Michael earned grand number 19 in the 4x400m relay.

Michael is never distracted by the opportunities his immense talent offers him. He is an exceptional example of how extreme pressure can make one more focused on realising his own true potential. He is a role model for children, aspiring athletes and professionals everywhere, and his impact on the world of sport is truly remarkable. A series of meets throughout 2001, including the Penn Relays and Goodwill Games, concluded Michael's fair-well competition tour. Fans around the globe have witnessed the making of a track and field legend, and there's no doubt that Michael's legacy to the sport will remain forever.

Throughout his athletic career, Michael has participated in numerous motivational and corporate speaking engagements. His revered success in this arena has inspired him to pursue corporate speaking on a more full-time basis, now that he is officially retired from track and field.
