Arguably the most successful magazine editor of the modern era, Mark is the current editor of Time Out and is a charismatic and fascinating keynote speaker. He won every major British publishing award during his time at the helm of Heat, including PPA Editor of the Year twice and, in 2005, the BSME Mark Boxer Award for special achievement in UK magazine publishing.
Mark can speak about anything to do with the magazine industry, entrepreneurship, change, and innovation.Mark made his UK debut as a TV presenter when he was asked to present BBC’s Liquid News. Mark presented the weekly news programme which aimed to uncover the stories behind the headlines for a year. Mark is now a regular contributor to Radio Four’s Front Row, Radio Two’s Steve Wright In The Afternoon and BBC2’s The Apprentice: You’re Fired.
After editing the University of East London's Students Union publication Overdraft, Mark joined Smash Hits in 1990, becoming editor of the magazine at the age of 23. He moved on to become editor of Sky Magazine for two and a half years before joining celebrity gossip magazine Heat in 1999. Mark was made editor at Heat in 2000 and is credited with the transformation of the magazine, increasing sales from 50,000 to over half a million copies a week. Mark is currently editorial consultant at Time Out magazine in London.
