Hazel is one of BBC Sport's most experienced, versatile and recognisable broadcasters and is the face of its snooker and golf coverage including The Open, the Women's Open, The Masters, The Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup. In addition to her role at BBC Sport, Hazel has hosted three magazine programmes - The Air Show, Feeling Good and Outside Now.
An integral part of the BBC’s coverage of all major events over the last 21 years, Hazel presented from Beijing in 2008, marking her sixth consecutive Olympic Games. She has worked on every Winter Olympics and Commonwealth Games since 1994 and in 2009 led the talent team at the World Athletic Championships, for which the BBC production team won the BAFTA award for Sport. Hazel also reported from football World Cup finals and European Championship finals from 1990 to 2002 and her many other credits include Final Score, Football Focus and Wimbledon.
In addition to her role at BBC Sport, Hazel hosted the coverage of the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings in 2004. She has also presented three magazine programmes: BBC2’s The Air Show; Feeling Good, a health and wellbeing series and Outside Now, a leisure and activities series, both for BBC Scotland and has hosted the channel’s Children In Need appeal and anchored its Millennium Night coverage.
Much in demand for corporate work, Hazel has acted as MC at the Royal Television Society’s Sports Awards, the industry’s most prestigious event. She was the recipient of the RTS Award for Best Regional Presenter/Reporter in 1999 and was named Sports Presenter of the Year at the RTS Sports Awards of 2006.
Hazel is a graduate of the University of St Andrews where she gained an MA Honours degree in Art History. She has representative honours in golf, netball and athletics and gained a full vest for athletics from Scottish Universities. In addition, she is the Chairman of the West of Scotland Institute of Sport and is proud to be the Honorary President of the Dumbarton Football Club Supporters’ Association.
