Fiona Bruce is one of the most popular presenters currently working in television. An award winning newscaster, she is a regular presenter of both the 6 O’clock and 10 O’clock News on BBC One and joined the Antiques Roadshow as lead presenter in 2008. As one of the most experienced and high profile news anchors on television, Fiona is the ideal choice as an awards host or conference facilitator.
Fiona worked in an advertising agency after graduating from university, before a chance meeting with the then editor of Panorama, Tim Gardam. After working as a researcher on the programme, she became assistant producer. In 1992 she made the change to presenting, as a reporter for Breakfast News. She then moved to BBC South East, appearing as an occasional presenter and reporter on Newsroom South East. During this time she also appeared on some weekend main BBC News bulletins and reported for Newsnight.
In 1999, as part of a major relaunch of the BBC's news output, Fiona was named secondary presenter of the Six O'Clock News bulletin. This was followed by a move to presenting the BBC News at Ten. By becoming presenter, she became the first woman to ever present the bulletin from launch in 2000. More recently, Fiona has once again taken up the role of Friday presenter and main relief presenter on the BBC's Six O'Clock News.
Fiona was named Newscaster of the Year at the Television and Radio Industry (TRIC) Awards 2003 and is also the recipient of the Michael Elliott Award for Television Presentation 2003.
Following the murder of Jill Dando, Fiona took over the position of co-presenter on Crimewatch alongside Nick Ross. They fronted the show until 2007.
Fiona took over from Michael Aspel, presenting the Antiques Roadshow in 2008. She also occasionally presents special editions of The Money Programme.
Fiona regularly appears on Children in Need, and was most recently seen on the 2009 programme, performing a "dance off" alongside fellow BBC newsreaders and Britain's Got Talent stars, Diversity.
