Dave worked with Moyles for 5 years on the afternoon show on Radio One before landing the coveted breakfast show in 2004. More than 7 years on, the show continues to go from strength to strength with Dave being an integral part of its success, both on air and behind the scenes in his role of Head Writer.
In March 2011, Dave Vitty and Chris Moyles broke the Guinness World Record for the Longest marathon radio DJ (team) after broadcasting their BBC Radio 1 show for 52 hours and raised a massive £2.6 million for Comic Relief.
In January 2011, Dave competed in ITV1′s Dancing On Ice. Dave & his professional skating partner Frankie Poultney finished 9th in the competition and Dave is also taking part in the live UK tour later this year.
Dave is also currently the voice of Channel 4′s “Coach Trip” every weekday evening.
Dave’s other great radio partnership is with Mark “Chappers” Chapman on BBC Radio 5 Live. The pair have proved themselves an impressive double act regularly depping for all sorts of shows on Radio 1. In December 2006, they won the celebrity edition of The Weakest Link, beating the Chuckle Brothers in the final round. They have raised money for both Sport Relief and Comic Relief over the years with a series of physical challenges around the country.
Dave is a huge football fan, supports Everton FC, and has written football pieces for fanzines and magazines over the years. He has recently been involved as a regular guest on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 show, has appeared twice as the presenter friend on the Richard Bacon Show and co-hosted a Sports Relief Show on Radio 5 Live with Eleanor Oldroyd. Off air, Dave lead the Radio 1 team to victory against the 5Live team for the 606-a-side charity football tournament in aid of Sport Relief.
Dave’s experience in front of the camera is just as extensive as his radio CV. As well as The Weakest Link, he was won Ready, Steady, Cook and has presented Shed Sports 1 on Nuts TV. He has made many appearances on shows like Hole in the Wall and Celebrity Mastermind both on BBC 1. He has also appeared as a guest on Fifth Gear and worked on Match of the Day 2, Football Focus on BBC 1 and as a guest on the ESPN sports network as a celebrity panelist.
