Carol Smillie is a Scottish television personality and one of the UK's most sought after presenters for television programmes, award ceremonies, corporate events, advertisements and charity work. Carol Smillie is a Scottish television personality and one of the UK's most sought after presenters for television programmes, award ceremonies, corporate events, advertisements and charity work. The range of her work on and off television may surprise those who know her primarily from the hit BBC show, Changing Rooms.
She has won a National TV Award, an Indie Award and was nominated for a BAFTA. She has worked with Princes, Prime Ministers and film stars, and is gaining recognition overseas, in particular as a result of BBC America.
After a successful modelling career, Carol made her television debut as the hostess on ITV's Wheel of Fortune. Following this, she became one of the main reporters on BBC2's The Travel Show. After two years, she was snapped up as a regular on BBC One's, Holiday, often fronting the show.
In keeping with the travel theme, Carol was the face of the BBC's, Summer Holiday and Holiday Swaps. For three years in succession, she fronted The National Lottery.
Carol is arguably best known for fronting the flagship DIY programme, Changing Rooms. The show earned Carol invitations to Buckingham Palace and Downing Street, not to mention the big red book on This is Your Life.
Carol has also fronted five successful series of Dream Holiday Homes on FIVE. She is a popular guest on game shows and other such programmes. Carol recently appeared on a celebrity edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
During October to December 2006, Carol took part in Series Four of Strictly Come Dancing with her dance partner Matthew Cutler.
In 2008, she made her film debut in a short film entitled Infamy. Carol has also appeared in radio and stage plays.
Carol is very much in demand in the corporate market as a host for company conferences and award ceremonies. She was chosen to host the Duke of Edinburgh's 80th birthday celebrations at the Royal Albert Hall.
