Former rugby union player and the first British player to lift the Heineken Cup as captain of Bath Rugby.
Andy Douglas Nicol is a former rugby union player and the first British player to lift the Heineken Cup as captain of Bath Rugby.
Andy represented the prestigious Barbarians, British Lions, and captained his country with distinction. He enjoyed a long and successful career with Bath, whom he led to a European Cup Win.
Since retiring from the professional game, Andy is now working in Banking with RBS Private Banking, for the BCC and is also a regular columnist for The Herald. He is also Chairman of the West of Scotland Institute of Sport.
Andy's superb sense of humour comes across in his after dinner speech, which is coloured by stories from his career highlights and the characters he has encountered along the way. Andy has spoken all over the World and would make a superb addition to any event.
Equally comfortable as a motivational or team building speaker, Andy takes great pride in his preparation to ensure that each speech is tailored to the brief. Drawing from his experiences as Captain and from the important lessons learnt from some of the great motivators he has encountered during his career, he has enjoyed speaking to management teams from Sainsbury's and Lloyds TSB amongst others.
A keen golfer with a handicap of 12, Andy is available for corporate golf days.
Philip Moyle, General Manager of Corporate Sports Australia was hugely impressed with Andy and remarked, "We had 500 guests attend our Melbourne event and 850 at our Sydney event. Andy simply brought the house down! He was not only extremely articulate but also highly entertaining and amusing. Many clients, who attend a great many of our events crossing all the sporting codes, commented that he was a 'brilliant speaker'. Having used many speakers, Andy really is up there with the best of them and I couldn't recommend him enough. Your guests will be left with a lasting impression for many years to come".
