Alan Hansen is a BBC television football pundit and a former football player.
Until a knee injury ended his playing career in 1991, Alan was one of the most successful football players of all time. He is the only person to have won all of the honours available at club level at least twice and captained the Liverpool side to a historic double in 1986. A keen tactical understanding of the game has made him the face of BBC television's Match of the Day along with Gary Lineker.
As a pundit, Alan has acquired a reputation for his critical approach to the game, particularly in regards to defending.
His broadcast credits include Sky Soccer analyst (1991 to 1992) and BBC Soccer analyst (1992).
Awards and qualifications Alan has won over the years include: Runner-Up Football Writer's Player of the Year (1986 and 1990) and Anglo-Scot of the Year (1986).
Alan contributes a weekly newspaper column on football for The Daily Telegraph and has established a reputation as an exceptional motivational speaker.
The Partnership Marketing Manager at Advanstar Communications remarked that, "Alan was an absolute professional, very accommodating to our requirements and a gentlemen". Liberty Pensions were similarly impressed. Their Events Manager said of Alan, "Alan's speach was intelligent, vibrant and good fun, delivered in a relaxed style. He later made himself available to speak with guests and was very professional".
