Team GB have truly made us proud! What an incredible games we’ve seen in our home nation and what an amazing medal haul! The most medals won in over 100 years is such a great achievement, with a total of 65 medals and 29 of them gold! On ‘Super Saturday’ the 4th of August, Team GB won an amazing 6 Olympic gold medals – and smashed a world record in the women’s cyclist team pursuit along the way. That was truly a sensational stand-out day for the UK.
There are now so many gold winning, Team GB super stars, including Greg Rutherford, Mo Farah, Nicola Adams, Chris Hoy and the now infamous Jessica Ennis. Every member of Team GB played their part brilliantly and gave thrilling performances throughout the games, all in their home capital.
Along with an incredible team of athletes, we also had a terrific team of presenters for the London games. Some British sporting legends lent their expertise and knowledge to the top quality commentating throughout the games, with presenters including Gabby Logan, Jake Humphreys, Clair Balding, Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson, Gary Lineker, Steve Cram and the great Sue Barker.
The London 2012 Olympics were anticipated with mild hesitation before they began, but now we can all agree that they were a roaring success and have set the bar exceptionally high for many games to come.
